Freeride legend Richie Schley has been featured in more videos than most film producers have made. Having gained so much experience as protagonist over the years, it’s no surprise that Richie became avid for being in control of a project. „I was really tired of wasting time on shoots and having to convince cameramen and producers that a shot was worthy, so I thought it would be great to ultimately have the final say,“ Richie states. „I also feel that I have a pretty good sense for what it takes to get the job done. That’s why I decided to produce my own video for a change.“

Schleyer hired Darcy Whitenburg (lead camera) and Colin Jones (edit, camera), the producers of Roam and The Collective, to film him over a period of three months at his favorite riding locations in Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton. After a total of eleven days of filming and eight days of editing, the Richie Schley Chronicles were completed. “It was a very refreshing experience,” Richie remembers. “Darcy and CJ worked well with me and let me know when I was wrong about a call I made. This is a video I can really identify with because it show my favourite type of riding.“

Well I just did my 7th and final trip to Europe for the year. It was a bit colder then expected.

So we got some face shots.

Wagrain, Austria has some really nice trails and we were showing folks the new Saint, which by the way is really sweet and worth checking out.

The brakes are really powerful and the shifting is perfect for DH and free-ride with the Shadow derailieur.

Apparently Wagrain has some amazing powder riding/skiing also. Normally I like powder face shots with skis on my feet, but this was a good start to the winter season.

Hey Mountain bike friends. It has been a while since I checked in. I have been super busy traveling back and forth to Europe (6 times since May 1) for several different mountain bike events, spreading the mountain bike cheer.

Some of those have included, Lago del Garda “bike Festival” in Itlay , Willingen Festival Germany, Wintergerg Dirt Miester Fest, Germany, A camp in Chatel, France with my good buddy Holger Meyer, the Aoriaz Roof’n Slopestyle, The UCI World Championships and several World cups, and The Adidas Slopestyle in Saalbach, Austria, where Hans Rey and I hosted the event live on www.freecaster.com.

Between all of these Euro events, back in Whistler, I some how managed to put together my own video part for the first time ever. Well, with a lot of help from the Collective boys Darcy and CJ. Stay tuned for that one shortly.

Wade Simmons and I put on some camps in Whistler, to help our fellow bikers get down the mountain in a safer more stylish fashion. I can’t forget Crankworx. It went off as usual.

I just returned from Eurobike that biggest bike industry trade show in the world.
After several days in a trade show hall, I went and rode some sweet single track in Alpbachtal, Austria, with my fiance Willow. Yup, that is right, I finally got the balls to go for it. She rocks, if you didn’t already know that.

Somehow in the midst of all of this travel and excitement, I managed to have one of the best summers of riding ever. The trail up here in Gods country were all time. My buddies, Willow, her brothers and I, did a ton of single track (well, BC style, steep and deep with hits everywhere) riding and several awesome days in the Whistler bike park. As usual there are more cool new trails and stunts to check out up in the park, so if you haven’t come by lately, it is worth a ride for sure.

Crankworx 2007 was once again at a higher level then ever before. Featuring the best racers in the world and the most skilled stylish Freeriders out there. It was a true testament to Whistler’s superior facilities that 3 of the youngest Free riders in the World step into the realm of the best and gave them a real run for it. Alex Pro, Brandon Semenuk and Kyle Macdonald, all local 16 year olds were the high light of the event for me.

The evening activities, the addition of Women’s works and the Dual Slalom were more pieces of the puzzle that make Crankworx truly stands on it’s own as the best bike festival in the world.
